We work with community members with the focus of improving the quality of life through a wide variety of community based livelihood enhancement initiatives including:
Agriculture and environment
Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 15 are on agriculture and environmental sustainability. We at PACODEF are working with the community to develop a sustainable response that addresses the element of food security and peacefully co-existence in harmony with the natural environment.
- We Support community effort in effective management of environment, including afforestation, agroforestry campaign, wetland management and conservation.
- Promote environmental sustainability through agro-forestry micro-enterprise (tree nursery beds); support tree planting.
- We also support community efforts in improving upon household income by improving on agriculture production, processing and marketing, advice in timely planting of crop, weeding and pest control
- Distribution of agricultural inputs and seed to widows and other vulnerable groups
- We also run a demo nutrition garden at PACODEF and train mothers on establishment of ‘kitchen demo’ garden.
Support to widows and orphans
Our focus here is delivering orphans, single mothers, widows and widowers from abject poverty through:
- Proving skills, tools, equipment and machines to help them start their careers for income generating activities. Our pioneer project, the tailoring school has registered tremendous result.
- Providing instant aid to community members at great risk. For instance over years we have constructed shelters, provided goats, Poultry, piggery, citrus trees, vegetable and maize seeds to vulnerable orphans and widows.
- Providing programs for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) that foster skills and help to shape their future.
